Je suis fascinée par les rénovations qui réussissent à garder l'âme d'un lieu tout en y ajoutant une belle décoration contemporaine. C'est bien le cas de cet appartement milanais appartenant à l'architecte Marzio Cavanna. Un immeuble années 30, étonnement bien conservé, et un appartement qui gardait encore ses éléments d'origine.
I am fascinated by the renovations which manage to keep the soul of a place while adding a refined contemporary decoration. It is the case of this Milanese apartment belonging to the architect Marzio Cavanna. A building of the 30s, surprisingly well-preserved, and an apartment which still kept its original architectural elements.
Le choix de la couleur a été essentiel. Cinq nuances de gris qui recouvrent chaque pièce du sol au plafond, pour créer un espace uniforme, mais tout en faisant attention à la fonction de chaque espace (la teinte plus foncée pour créer un salon douillet jusqu'à la plus claire pour souligner le dynamisme et l'énergie de la cuisine).
The choice of color was essential. Five shades of grey, painting floors and ceilings, to create a uniform space, but still paying attention to the use of each and every room (the darkest hue to create a cozy living-room, the lightest one to stress the dynamism and energy of the kitchen.)
Quand on habite dans une ville grise (et Milan en ai une malheureusement), peindre ses murs en gris peut nuire au moral. Voilà ce que je pensais jusqu'à quand j'ai vu les photos de cet appartement qui montre bien qu'une telle audace ajoute la touche élégante du gris tout en gardant la belle luminosité des lieux.

When you live in a grey city (and Milan is one of those unfortunately), painting your walls in grey can get you down. That's exactly what I thought until I saw the pictures of this apartment. Such a boldness adds grey's elegant touch while keeping the beautiful light of the place.
