INTERIOR DUEL⎬BEDROOM

Back on our Interior Duel. This week we talk about bedrooms.
Do you prefer a spacious bedroom or a tiny nook enough to put the bed?

Since we moved we have the biggest bedroom we've ever had, but I sometimes feel uncomfortable with the wide space around me when I'm in bed. The big advantage is that you can have a cupboard, a chest of drawers, a hanging rail, an armchair … well, anything you need and even more, all in the same room. Or just the empty space around you.

A tiny nook can be a cozy place. You feel protected, you just have the essential at hand and nothing disturbs your view when you lie in bed.

Some people love to read in bed during the day, take their breakfast on week-ends, take a nap. And you, do you spend time in bed during the day? Which is your favorite layout? What kind of room do you dream of?

  1. I love a big bedroom as I've noticed that even though I don't do much more than reading and sleeping in it, that I felt better with more space. Might also have to do with the ceiling height....

    1. I agree about the ceiling height … it can completely change you perception of the room and make even a tiny room look bigger. As I said I feel as little bit lost in our bedroom, I moved the furniture around three-four times by now, to try to fill the space and it's getting better. But still better this than a nook ;-) xxi.

  2. Oh wow, I would like a huge room only for a fireplace.
In my bedroom I prefered to have separate and clean spaces, a walk-in closet in one part and bed+bedside in the other. I feel it more relaxing :-)

  3. Oh Ilaria, again a beautiful blogpost with beautiful images. I have to confess that I do love the big and bright room. The fire place, the high ceilings just gorgeous!!!! Im moving to Stockholm later this year and I would be delighted with a room like this. Fingers crossed ;-)!!!! Have a great day and thanks for the daydreaming moment!!!!

    1. You are moving to Stockholm?!? Wow, that will be a change from Japan. Who knows, we might get the chance to meet again (and it is definitely easier than France-Japan ;-) Thank you for your nice words, you are adorable :-) xxi. PS I wouldn't be worried for your future apartment … all you see in real estates' agencies over there is stunning!!

  4. I like all rooms with a lot of space I wouldn't necessarily fill out but it feels airy for me and comfortable. And the more light, the better:-) x

    1. Light … that's my first criteria for an apartment, on top of everything else! I like big rooms as well (isn't space the ultimate luxury in contemporary towns?), but I'd rather smaller bedrooms … I dream of a bedroom just with the bed inside ;-) xxi.

  5. I like my small bedroom but wouldn't mind the big one in your picture up there! Seriously, in a small apartment I feel like having a huge bedroom would be a waste of space. But if I had lots of space I think I'd go for it and try to keep it as empty as possible. No distractions and enough room to let my thoughts wander.

    1. When we moved in we just had our bed in the bedroom and I felt completely lost. It was such a weird impression to wake up in the morning surrounded by the empty space. I still like minimalist spaces but I needed to fill the space a little bit. It doesn't look that big now and I feel less lost … but I love big spaces to live in and tiny ones to sleep in, so I might not be the perfect example ;-)

  8. Definately space with a lot of light. Enough room for the 2 of us to move around in! xD
